3. Joe Moorhead

Joe Moorhead built his career in the northeast. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, he started his coaching career for Pitt. After success at UConn as an offensive coach, he was hired as the head coach of the Fordham Rams. Moorhead had success with the Rams, he pilled up a total record of 38-13.

He returned back to the state of Pennsylvania to further build his career. At Penn State, as OC under James Franklin, the Nittany Lions won the Big Ten Championship and defeated USC in the Rose Bowl. The following year, they beat Washington in the Fiesta Bowl.

Moorhead was hired as the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2018. State finished with an overall record of 8-5 in Moorhead’s first year. Things aren’t looking too bright in hi second year. The Bulldogs have already lost to Kansas State and Auburn. A visit to Neyland is next on the schedule. If State fails to get it done on the road against a pitiful Tennessee team, then Moorhead could look for an exit.

I believe Rutgers would take him in a split second. He knows how to recruit the New York/New Jersey area and is a true and tried northern.

Who do you think Rutgers should turn to? Between these three candidates, who is best fitted for the job? The Scarlet Knights hope to turn things around and join in on the Big Ten competition, with the right hire it could happen.
