3. No. 14 Iowa at No. 19 Michigan (Oct. 5 at Noon ET – TBD)

Here we are discussing aforementioned Iowa. The Hawkeyes are undefeated, eyeing the Big Ten West crown, and a shot to play for the Big Ten Championship. It’s early, but why not Iowa? Why can’t the Hawkeyes be a team that contends for a conference title and a College Football Playoff bid? Those questions will be answered, at least in part, this weekend when Iowa goes to the Big House.

More from College Football News

Michigan responded to its beat down at the hands of Wisconsin by dishing out its own beatdown to Rutgers last weekend. Poor Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights can’t catch a break against the Wolverines. But Iowa is no Rutgers. In fact, Iowa is no Michigan either. The Hawkeyes might be better than the Wolverines this year. They have certainly played cleaner games, maybe with the exception of the one-point win over rival Iowa State, but they haven’t come close to losing to a team like Army.

Maybe Iowa is just the latest team that will fall short on continuing a young undefeated season and Michigan will prove that it’s bounced back completely from the Wisconsin game. And maybe Michigan is going to continue a run to rivalry weekend and be a real threat to Ohio State. Maybe Michigan is the true College Football Playoff contender here. Or maybe it’s Iowa, and Iowa is better than Michigan, and Iowa will win this game and jump into the top 10 of the AP Poll this weekend.

Early betting lines have Michigan as a 4.5-point favorite at home and ESPN’s FPI gives the Wolverines a 62.1 percent chance to win. We’ll see about that.
