Florida Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Auburn in Week 6
By David Harvey
1. JaTarvious Whitlow has monster game
The defenses have been talked about in this one numerous times over. Both are very strong and could very well determine the outcome of what looks to be a low scoring game. However, the determining factor in my book is JaTarvious Whitlow.
Whitlow comes into this game averaging 5.0 yards per carry. He is third in the SEC with 463 rushing yards and has tallied seven rushing touchdowns on the season. He makes terrific cuts and reads in-between the tackles and is extremely elusive in the open field.
Florida boasts the 16th ranked rushing defense but I think the numbers are skewed. They haven’t been tested yet. They allowed Deejay Dallas to put up 97 yards on them in the Miami game. They also let Kovosiey Smoke from Kentucky reach 81 yards which was his second-highest total on the year behind Eastern Michigan.
I think it will be tough sledding early on for the rushing attack. However, I believe that Gus Malzahn will be dedicated to the run. Whitlow eventually finds running room in this one and is the difference maker in the game.
Bold prediction No. 1 is that Whitlow rushes for 125 yards and three touchdowns. That puts my touchdown total on the game for Auburn at four. I believe the final score will be 28-13 with Auburn remaining undefeated.
