1. Get the offense going early

Notre Dame’s rushing attack looked very good last week against Virginia, and Brian Kelly wants to keep that going. They’ll look to keep the rushing attack going against Bowling Green.

Early in games against lesser opponents, you want to establish your dominance at the line of scrimmage. There’s no better way to do this than to establish your run game.

Tony Jones, Jr. is the man at running back until Jafar Armstrong gets back, and he’s expected to miss at least another two weeks.

What might be most important in this game is getting young running backs C’Bo Flemister and Jahmir Smith quality live reps, and confidence.

The Irish need quality depth behind both Jones and Armstrong — when he comes back — and in-game carries is the best way to get young guys ready. Both Armstrong and Jones are upperclassmen, so the more carries the younger backs get the better.
