2. Stay balanced

The SMU offense loves to go with up-tempo, almost air raid looking sets that gets the ball out from the QB to all of the playmakers on the outside.

The most surprising part of this season has been the break out year from running back Xavier Jones. While SMU wants to get their playmakers in space and have their star transfer quarterback from Texas Shane Buechele distribute, they have had the luxury of having a burner in the backfield.

Xavier Jones is tied for the FBS lead for rushing touchdowns in 2019 so far with 10. Jones also has rushed for over 525 yards and has been one of the best options for the SMU offense through their first five games. We should see Jones take another heavy load of carries this game against Tulsa to make sure the offense is balanced out.

SMU has 222 yards rushing per game, expect this to keep up against Tulsa as they will try to stretch you out and then battle you in the trenches. Jones should have a great day against a team that gives up almost 200 yards rushing a game in Tulsa.
