College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 7 – Florida climbs
By Zach Bigalke
LSU talked up Utah State as a speedy threat, but the Tigers had little trouble with the Aggies as they downed their Mountain West visitors 42-6 in early play on Saturday in Week 6. Ed Orgeron’s team shut down Utah State’s running game, holding the Aggies to just 19 yards on the ground. Forced to try to win the game with his arm, Jordan Love finished with 130 passing yards and three interceptions.
Joe Burrow had another solid day as he builds his Heisman resume. The veteran quarterback finished with 344 yards through the air and 42 more on the ground as he racked up six total touchdowns. Repeatedly getting the ball back after short Utah State drives, LSU controlled the clock for more than 41 minutes.
Next week the Tigers stay at home for a critical interdivisional showdown against Florida. A trip to Mississippi State precedes a rough back-to-back run against Auburn and Alabama that will likely determine which of the trio represents the SEC West in Atlanta in early December and takes pole position in the battle for a College Football Playoff berth out of the division.
