College Football Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 7 – Florida climbs
By Zach Bigalke
With Clemson also idle this week, there is no chance that Alabama is going to be unseated from their spot atop the AP Top 25 this week. The Crimson Tide are one of several programs averaging more than 50 points per game on offense, but they have not sacrificed their defensive identity in the process.
That unit, which allowed just 14.8 points per game through the first month of the year, has also snagged 11 takeaways through their first five outings. With six interceptions and five fumbles, the Tide rank in the top 12 in both types of turnovers generated.
Opponents have found it slightly easier to run the football than pass against Alabama, but in the end the result has inevitably been a loss no matter who has taken on Nick Saban’s team. The Tua Tagovailoa-guided offense has made sure that any gains opponents might make on the scoreboard are steamrolled under the weight of a rolling Tide.
A key divisional showdown welcomes Alabama back to the field in Week 7, when they head to College Station for a test against Texas A&M. Home dates against Tennessee and Arkansas round out October play ahead of what will likely be a top-five showdown against LSU on the first weekend of November.
