2. Jalen Hurts was quietly dominant in the runaway win

It was hardly the biggest statistical performance of the season for Jalen Hurts. The former Alabama starter has been the most efficient quarterback in the country since arriving in Norman as a graduate transfer. Though he didn’t put up huge numbers, it is merely by comparison to some of his September performances. Dominance comes in different forms against different opponents, and Hurts once again dominated on a Big 12 Saturday.

Hurts started the game cold, going just 1-of-3 for 15 yards and running twice for a net of zero yards as the Oklahoma offense bogged down on its opening drive. Kansas ground down the clock, trying to take the wind out of the Sooner sails, and they went up 7-0 with three and a half minutes left in the first quarter.

From there, Hurts asserted his will. Running for two touchdowns and passing for two more, Hurts finished with 228 passing yards and 59 yards on the ground to finish in about 50 minutes of work. He finally came out of the game with nine and a half minutes left to give backup Tanner Mordecai some snaps.

Hurts warmed up as the game went on and put in a strong day at work that deflated Kansas hopes of an upset. His Heisman hopes were only bolstered by another four-touchdown performance that kept him among the national leaders in total points accounted for per game.
