1. The AAC is legit

We may have just witnessed the top AAC team get beat on the road. This does not stop us from coming to the conclusion that the AAC is a very deep conference with a handful of teams that could be in the top 25. With Cincinnati, UCF, SMU and Memphis threw in there, the AAC has really solidified themselves as the best Group of Five conferences and one that should be recognized to a higher degree.

UCF might have gone down and lost their only chances at a New Year’s Six bowl in 2019, but this should not be recognized as a “bad loss” for UCF. On a Friday night, against a conference opponent that might crack the top 25, UCF fell just as many would in this situation.

The biggest takeaway from this game was that the AAC has a lot of great teams that are all beating up on each other at the same time. With no clear cut favorite and team that is standing out, it will hurt the conference nonetheless as they will most likely concede the New Year’s Six bowl to Boise State in just a couple of months.

There is a ton of football left to play in the season, and the AAC should be at the heart of the conversations for the rest of the year.
