3. Darius Stills is somehow still underrated

West Virginia’s Darius Stills entered Saturday’s game against Texas as one of the best in the Big 12 at getting sacks and making tackles for loss. The Longhorns couldn’t slow him down, either, as he continued to torment opposing offense’s in their own backfield. The junior defensive tackle recorded three more tackles-for-loss to push his season total to 8.5, and added another sack to give him four through five games.

How is Stills not getting national recognition yet? Sure, he’s playing on a defense that’s allowing nearly 30 points per game, but he’s been the one constant on West Virginia’s defense. There are other bright spots, of course, but Stills’ dominance bursts off of the tape.

Regardless of the offensive output moving forward, this WVU football team won’t be counted out of many games as long as Stills is suiting up. There’s something about him — being from West Virginia, playing alongside his brother, Dante, and for his father’s alma mater — that simply seems to push Stills to a gear most players only aspire to reach.

This kid is special, and he’ll continue performing until those watching are forced to take notice.
