10. Toledo Rockets (4-1/MAC)

  • WEEK 6 RESULT: Won 31-24 vs. Western Michigan
  • WEEK 7 OPPONENT: Oct. 12 at Bowling Green

Toledo is the front-runner in the MAC this year. After taking down Western Michigan last week, the Rockets remain the only team in the conference that has just one loss at this point. It is almost certain at this point that the Rockets are going to reach the midpoint of the season at 5-1 given they take on 1-4 Bowling Green on Saturday.

Only three other running backs in the country average more rushing yards per game than Toledo’s Bryant Koback, a big reason why they are the favorites to claim the MAC West and win the league this year. The former Kentucky Wildcats recruit is piling up more than 125 yards per game for the Rockets, and the redshirt sophomore is already more than two-thirds of the way toward breaking the 917 yards he posted last year as Toledo’s leading rusher.

While a one-loss MAC champion would have a hard time overtaking a one-loss champion from one of the other Group of Five conferences, there is still plenty of time for the teams ahead of them to experience some chaos and open up some space for the Rockets to launch up the chart.
