When Florida and LSU football take the field on Saturday, it’ll be a clash of the titans. The Tigers will prevail in Death Valley, and here’s why.

The No. 5 LSU Tigers will play host to the No. 7 Florida Gators in a battle that will define the Southeastern Conference this weekend. Baton Rouge will also be the site of ESPN’s College GameDay, drawing even more eyes and attention to the game.

The Tigers (5-0, 1-0) hail from the SEC West, while the Gators (6-0, 3-0) sit atop the SEC East. Florida has the more impressive SEC win, having beaten No. 7 Auburn by two scores a week ago, but LSU’s win over Texas in Austin is a bit more impressive. Saturday’s matchup will be both team’s biggest test to date, though.

Florida’s defense is surrendering just 9.5 points per game this season, but they’ll be put to the test against the No. 1 scoring offense in the country in LSU. That’s right, LSU averages the most points per game in college football, led by senior quarterback Joe Burrow. Something’s got to give.

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron is just 1-2 against the Gators in the past three seasons, though, but this year’s Tiger squad could be the most-talented group we’ve seen since the 2012 team that included Odell Beckham, Jr., Jeremy Hill, Jarvis Landry and Spencer Ware. What will it take for the 2019 Tigers to get past the Florida Gators on Saturday? We’ve got three distinct reasons how it’ll happen.
