  • vs. Navy (W 35-23)
  • at UL-Monroe (W 52-33)

The Tigers of Memphis have been getting a lot of attention for their basketball program in recent months, but their football team, after a gritty victory over Ole Miss from the SEC in their season opener, has been getting more and more love.

Memphis has had some success in recent years, winning 10 and nine games in 2014 and 2015, respectively. The Tigers took that momentum and won eight games the following year and in 2017 won 10 games. They also have won the American Athletic West back-to-back and hope to make it a three-peat this season.

The bad news in recent years, however, is they have not finished the season on a strong note. They have lost consecutive AAC title games and four straight bowl games. They have been competitive in most of those games but they hope to win and close out this season on a strong note as they did in 2014.

The Tigers are off to another strong start with some quality wins behind a strong offense. They have scored 52 or more points twice this season and have put up 35 or more points in all put one game this season. They can step it up on defense as they did against Ole Miss in their home opener when they held the Rebels to only 10 points.

Their toughest remaining games left on their schedule are at home against Tulane, SMU and Cincinnati but the Tigers have a difficult task traveling to play Temple who beat Power Five conference opponents in Maryland and Georgia Tech.
