2. Limiting mistakes and taking advantage

Coming into this game South Carolina has lost five fumbles and thrown five interceptions. Limiting turnovers against a superior team is a must. If the Gamecocks want to be in this one late, they are going to have to limit the turnovers.

Another costly mistake that can kill a drive is penalties. The Gamecocks are 28th in the country in fewest penalties committed by a team. A few of those have been costly false starts that set the offense back into obvious passing situations. Those mistakes cannot be made in a game like this. They have to keep the momentum swinging to their side as much as possible and nothing kills momentum like stupid penalties.

On the other side of the ball, the Gamecocks have to create mistakes for the Georgia offense. That is going to be a hard ask for the Gamecocks. Jake Fromm has been perfect in that category this season. He has eight touchdowns to zero interceptions thus far. Creating pressure on Fromm and not allowing the easy throw will be the only way for the Gamecocks to have a shot at an interception.

Georgia is also tied for first place in fewest fumbles lost on the season with three. This Bulldog offense just doesn’t give the ball away. South Carolina is going to have to go after the ball to get a Georgia running back to create a fumble. If they put their heads across the body and tackle with some intensity, they might have a shot.

A few drives stolen away from the Georgia offense would go a long way towards making this game interesting.
