1. Winning the war in the trenches

Georgia comes into this game with arguably the best offensive line in the country. They are first in the country with only one sack allowed all season. The sheer size of the offensive line is enough to give defenses nightmares. The starting five offensive linemen weigh in at an average just over 323 pounds.

South Carolina is undersized on the defensive line versus these massive Bulldogs so technique will play a big factor here. They will need to fill the gaps and try to hold their ground as much as possible.

The linebacker play will be a factor against a stout offensive line as well. Trying to rush four is going to give Jake Fromm too much time to throw the ball so South Carolina will have to blitz at that position. Fromm and the line are smart at picking up on blitz packages so the scheme will have to be good. The delayed blitz will probably be Will Muschamp’s best weapon.

On the other side of the ball, South Carolina’s offensive line must give Ryan Hilinski time to throw the ball. He has a quick release and the Gamecocks have been known to give him easy and quick routes to limit pressure.

The running lanes will have to be opened up as well. Pulling linemen and blocking to the second level will allow the Gamecocks to keep away from the Bulldogs’ prolific offense.

Winning these wars in the trenches will absolutely prove the difference in this game being winnable versus a possible blow out.
