2. Both of these programs are trending up

This is year three for Matt Rhule at Baylor and this is the first season for Matt Wells at Texas Tech.

What Rhule has done at Baylor is nothing short of amazing. He’s had to completely rebuild the program at Waco after the sexual assault scandal that rocked not only the football program, but the entire athletic department.

What makes the turnaround so impressive is the Bears went from a coach who started his career as a high school coach in Texas and spent most of his coaching career in Texas to a man from the Northeast and no ties to Texas. He’s worked and grinded his way to this undefeated season.

Wells obviously doesn’t take no for an answer. He was told you couldn’t play defense in Lubbock, run the ball or recruit at a high level. Well, he’s doing all three. The Red Raiders might be 3-3 this season, but the way they played today is an indicator they aren’t that far away.
