Georgia Football: 3 takeaways from shocking upset loss to South Carolina
1. Georgia fans’ sportsmanship
Earlier this season, the Georgia Bulldogs’ fans honored the late wife of Arkansas State head coach, Blake Anderson, by promoting wearing pink when the Bulldogs welcomed the Red Wolves to Sanford Stadium. Coach Anderson’s wife, Wendy, lost her battle with breast cancer just prior to the start of the 2019 football season.
This week, many of the Bulldogs’ fans took a moment during the beginning of the third quarter to honor South Carolina’s quarterback, Ryan Hilinski’s late brother, Tyler. Tyler Hilinski, who wore number three as a quarterback at Washington State, took his own life in 2018. As a memory of him, the Gamecock’s remember him during the first play of every third quarter.
Georgia fans are planning another “pink out” on Oct. 19 during the Kentucky game in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
There are very few college fan bases that put so much effort into supporting others. There is an even smaller amount of them who are fans of big name programs like Georgia. The sportsmanship shown by the Bulldogs’ fans is tremendous and should be adopted by the rest of the country.
