1. Oregon is talented in the trenches

Oregon second-year head coach Mario Cristobal spent time as an assistant on the Alabama staff, and you can tell. He has built his offense and defense from the inside out.

The offensive line is one of the best in the country, and probably the best in the Pac-12 and the Ducks got whatever they wanted on offense. Justin Herbert got all day to throw the ball, and the run game had lanes all night long. CJ Verdell averaged over 12 yards per carry in the game as they ran all over the Buffaloes.

The Ducks are physical and fast all over the defensive line. From No. 1 recruit Kayvon Thibodeaux to every other player on the line it’s hard to run and throw against this unit.

Defensive coordinator Andy Avalos’ scheme has helped free players up to play free, but he’s gotta smile every time he puts on tape and knows he doesn’t have to bring pressure to get to the quarterback since his defensive line can get to the quarterback on its own.
