Pac-12 Football Power Rankings, Week 8: Bow down to Jayden Daniels
By Kyle Grondin
Quick caveat: I know it’s Washington State, and that the defense is playing like a scout team defense at the moment. I get it. But…
Jayden Daniels is the most exciting player in college football. He was incredible with 363 passing yards and four total touchdowns, including the game-winning 17-yard rushing score.
He’s fun to watch, and besides a disappointing three-point loss to Colorado, Herm Edwards and Co. continue to get the job done and impress.
Their trip to Salt Lake City becomes the biggest game of the Pac-12 season, with the winner having a stranglehold on the south conference.
Another win for the Utes, as they took care of business against Oregon State. Even more important for Utah, Zack Moss returned to action and was very good once again, and he’ll be vital to the Utes against the Sun Devils next weekend in a pivotal Pac-12 matchup.
This game should favor the Utes, with their grind it out style being better than Arizona State’s defense. If the pass rush can contain Daniels, the Utes should cruise to victory.
If not for Daniels theatrics, the story of the week in the Pac-12 would be Oregon’s absolute dominance against Colorado.
Not so much on offense, but the defense was able to stifle Steven Montez and Co. and force four interceptions in the game. The Ducks look head and shoulders above everyone else in every phase of the game, and should be on the edge of their seats the end of the season as they hope for a playoff spot.
