Big 12 Football Power Rankings, Week 8: Oklahoma makes statement

Kansas found an opponent they couldn’t lose to this week; it’s hard to lose the bye week, and by all accounts they won in quadruple-overtime on a missed extra point. Their reward for such a dramatic win over Bye-Week Polytechnic A&M State University?
A trip to Darrell K. Royal Stadium to take on what promises to be a very mad, ornery Texas squad who wants to stampede all over the Jayhawks. They better be up for the Sunflower Showdown vs. Kansas State because there’s not another game they are in the ballpark of winning this season.
Speaking of those Wildcats and the Sunflower Showdown, imagine being one of the few — if not only — teams the Kansas Jayhawks have a winning record against. Wonder what that record is during the Bill Snyder era. One thing is for sure as it concerns Kansas State: they need to find the end-zone.
The Wildcats haven’t been bad on defense giving up under 20 points and 350 yards per game, but they’ve had issues scoring in the conference games averaging just 12.5 points per game in the Big 12 while giving up twice that. You aren’t winning many games with that formula. Kansas State needs to find three wins to get to a bowl, but if they can’t score, they’re not going bowling.
TCU plays the aforementioned Kansas State this week, and the narrative for the Horned Frogs remains the same: stick with one quarterback for crying out loud. They need some continuity on offense, and platooning the quarterbacks isn’t helping that cause at all. If they hope to make any noise at all in the Big 12 this season, they need some consistency on offense, and that starts with the quarterback.
They still have No. 18 Baylor, No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 15 Texas on their schedule. If they have a chance, TCU needs to score points and give their defense a chance to breathe. They can’t do that if they are switching quarterbacks.
