Oklahoma State football hits the road to take on Baylor in Week 8 and here are some keys to victory for the Cowboys over the Bears.

Baylor holds the weight of the favorite to win on against Oklahoma State but the odds are not in the Bears’ favor.

Here’s what the Cowboys must do to pull off the upset.

1. Establishing the run game early

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have a secret ace of spades in their deck in Chuba Hubbard.
If his name doesn’t sound familiar, you need to get in tune with the stat leaders. Hubbard is the nation’s rushing leader with 1,094 yds and 13 touchdowns on 164 carries. He has smashed and stomped his way through defenses this season averaging 6.8 yds per carry.

2. Offensive execution

The Cowboys have a lot of offensive weapons at their disposal and are very efficient in their execution. Oklahoma State is putting up 40.2 points and 528.3 yards per game. Oklahoma State’s fierce passing game features one of the nations most talented wide receivers: Tylan Wallace. He has been a total monster and almost unstoppable this season, averaging 18 yards per reception with over 700 yards receiving.

The Cowboys are a very dangerous team if you combine their offensive talent with solid execution they can be deadly. It will be vital for Oklahoma State to start early and get ahead of the potent Baylor offense.

3. Defensive Stops

The Cowboys can run up the score quickly but securing the win is the main problem. The Oklahoma State defense gives up a jaw dropping 415 yards per game — it’s no secret that the Cowboys’ defense couldn’t stop a Pop Warner offensive attack. We all know that Oklahoma State won’t shut down Baylor’s offense but slowing them down will be much-needed. Defensively, they don’t need to be lights out but getting the necessary stops late in the game will determine the win.
