Baylor Football: 3 takeaways from huge win at Oklahoma State
By Dante Pryor
3. Spencer Sanders has some growing to do
Spencer Sanders has a tremendous future as Oklahoma State’s quarterback. He’s a dual-threat whose arm is as dangerous as his legs.
On Saturday, however, he was bottled up both throwing and passing. He also had three turnovers including a critical interception before the half. That throw was an indicator of his youth. You have to play the score in that situation.
If you are up 13-10 late in the second quarter deep in Baylor territory, you have to throw that ball away. There are two things you don’t want to do in that situation; take a sack or throw an interception — Sanders did the latter.
Sanders had a tendency to lock onto Tylan Wallace a bit too much in this game. He has to do a better job of looking Wallace off and finding his second or third read. Everyone knows how great Wallace is, so Baylor was going to key on him. In that situation, you have to find your other reads.
When Sanders does that, he’s going to be outstanding.
