1. The legend of Charlie Brewer grows

It’s said that the quarterback is an extension of the head coach. There isn’t a player in college football that exemplifies this quite like Charlie Brewer. He’s a tough-minded grinder just like his coach. He was too small to play Power Five football; there was no way a Yankee can win in Texas.

Both quarterback and coach have proved the naysayers wrong. This game encapsulates who Brewer is and what he means to the Baylor Bears.

Brewer and the Bears had issues getting their offense going in the first half. One of the reasons he only had 17 pass attempts was because the Cowboys were in the backfield disrupting him and the offensive line. The Pokes sacked him four times.

As the run game loosened up the defense, Brewer found Josh Fleeks and Tyquan Thornton on big plays in the second half. He was asked after the game if he though they’d be here when they won one game his freshman year. His reply was he thought he had a chance because everyone worked hard and they were young, but talented.

That’s someone you want leading you.
