1. LSU might be looking ahead to Alabama

One of college football’s biggest rivalries is Alabama versus LSU. Every single season that matchup has a lasting impact on the SEC Championship Game and oftentimes, the College Football Playoff. And with Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa recently injured, the LSU Tigers will be chomping at the bit to get a piece of the Crimson Tide.

First, LSU has to take care of business against Auburn, though. The outcome of the Alabama game won’t matter much if they stumble against the visiting Tigers this weekend. I don’t want to call it a trap game, mainly because that phrase is reserved for team’s overlooking an inferior opponent — which Auburn isn’t — but LSU could see a suffering Crimson Tide squad on the horizon and think about nothing else but defeating them.

This bodes well for Auburn, even if it’s just for a couple drives Saturday. If LSU comes out flat against Auburn — not giving them the respect they deserve, looking ahead to Alabama, etc. — Auburn could create some distance between themselves and the hosting Tigers. After all, Auburn’s still got dates with Georgia and Alabama yet this season.
