Wisconsin football will be major underdogs when it faces Ohio State in Columbus. Here are three reasons the Badgers will pull off the upset.
The general sentiment across the college football world is that No. 13 Wisconsin doesn’t stand much of a chance to take down No. 3 Ohio State when the Badgers take on the Buckeyes in the Shoe on Saturday.
To be sure, it’s hard to fault those who aren’t optimistic about Bucky’s chances of emerging victorious. After all, the Badgers are coming off of a weekend in which they were on the wrong end of one of the most stunning upsets in recent memory, and certainly of this 2019 season.
Wisconsin looked downright awful, especially defensively, against what has been one of the Big Ten’s worst teams all season in Illinois, a performance that doesn’t exactly suggest the Badgers are capable of taking down arguably the best team in the country in Ohio State on its home turf.
Many are suggesting that Wisconsin’s defense got exposed against the Fighting Illini by getting gashed for several explosive plays, really for the first time all season. Additionally, Jonathan Taylor and Wisconsin’s vaunted run game struggled to get much of anything going throughout the contest.
After watching the Badgers struggle so mightily against a team with the relatively low level of talent that Illinois’ possesses, the Buckeyes have got to be licking their chops right now with the embarrassment of riches they have on both sides of the ball; this roster is littered with guys that are going to be playing on Sundays. However, don’t write Wisconsin off just yet.
Sure, the Badgers had an incredibly awful performance last weekend. An inexcusable one. However, after a crushing defeat like that, it’s easy to forget just how dominant this Wisconsin team was up until that loss. The squad we all saw obliterate most of its opponents through the first six games is one that is capable of giving Ohio State a run for its money, especially when it is highly motivated.
Here are the three reasons why the Badgers will shock the world and take down mighty Ohio State.
