2. Nebraska isn’t quite “there” yet

There was a buzz of expectations for the Huskers coming into this season. The expectations were due primarily to what Scott Frost did in year two at Central Florida.

Frost, and those that thought Nebraska was going to have a big season, has been disappointed. They’ve learned quickly this isn’t Central Florida or the American and you need more than one recruiting cycle to get the players to compete and win in the Big Ten. This game was a microcosm of the issues Frost still has to overcome in Lincoln.

If there’s any place the Nebraska Cornhuskers are lacking this season it’s defensively. The Huskers are giving up almost 400 yards of offense and a shade over 27 points per game.

The Cornhuskers jumped out to a 14-3 lead and couldn’t hold it. Then they took the lead once again 24-21 but couldn’t hold it. They were better against the run today allowing under 4.0 yards per rush, but allowed over 300 yards through the air.

The offense has flashed more, but the defense has a long ways to go. However, they’ve reached four wins faster than last season.
