Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. idle in Week 9. player. 860. 10/31 vs. West Virginia. Baylor Bears. 10

Baylor entered their second bye week among the last handful of undefeated teams around the country, locking down a top-15 spot in the AP Top 25 for another week in the process. Dating back to the end of the 2018 season, the Bears are on a nine-game winning streak as they head into November with a legitimate shot to earn one of the two spots in the Big 12 championship game.

What has made this Baylor team so dangerous is that, unlike previous iterations of highly-ranked Bears teams in the 21st century, they are getting it done as much with defense as with their offense. Charlie Brewer is one of the 15 most efficient quarterbacks in the FBS this year, but the defense has been just as good. In a Big 12 filled with potent offenses, the Bears have held their first seven opponents to just 19 points and 360 yards per game.

They have one more game in October, a Halloween showdown at home against West Virginia to kick off Week 10 action on Thursday. A trip to TCU will be tricky as two of the league’s top defenses square off, and then Oklahoma comes to Waco. If the Bears happen to knock off the Sooners, they would quickly launch into the top 10 as a College Football Playoff threat.
