11/2 at Washington. Utah Utes. 9. player. Scouting Report. leading 28-0 at halftime vs. California. 843. Pick Analysis

If Utah continues their current blowout of Cal in Salt Lake City through the second half, they will play their way into the top 10 of the AP Top 25 with relative ease. The 7-1 Utes are a clear contender for the College Football Playoff this year as long as they keep winning, and especially if they get the opportunity to face an 11-1 Oregon team that is also ranked in the top 10.

Tyler Huntley was strong at quarterback in victory. Through the first half he threw for 214 yards and a touchdown on 11-of-17 passing, gashing the Golden Bears secondary at will. Zack Moss rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown in the first half, helping balance out the Utes offense. And the Golden Bears offense was held to just 53 total yards of offense as Utah shut them out through the first two quarters.

We have seen plenty of Pac-12 After Dark chaos in the past few weeks, but at this point it looks highly unlikely that Cal is suddenly going to discover their offensive prowess. As long as Utah holds on for a home win on the last Saturday of October, Kyle Whittingham’s team will be wearing single digits in the poll when it comes out on the last Sunday of the month.
