College Football Rankings: Projected Top 25, Week 10 – Big 12 gets wild
By Zach Bigalke
Penn State continues to have issues with jumping out to big leads and then cooling off considerably in the second half. It nearly cost them victory in Week 8 against Michigan, but it was far less risky in Week 9 when the Nittany Lions headed to East Lansing and claimed their first road win over Michigan State in a decade to improve to 8-0 on the year.
Sean Clifford threw for 189 yards and four touchdowns, and the backfield combined to post 140 rushing yards as a team. The Nittany Lions defense came through in a big way, as they held the Spartans to only 259 total yards of offense. The running game had an especially hard time, as they finished with just 77 yards on the ground.
A better offense might have made Penn State pay for their lackadaisical second-half performance. James Franklin and his staff will work with the Nittany Lions on their bye week at the beginning of November, as they prepare for a showdown of unbeaten programs on their road trip to Minnesota in Week 11.
