College Football Rankings: Projected Top 25, Week 10 – Big 12 gets wild
By Zach Bigalke
Clemson finally looked like a complete team just in time for the final AP Top 25 of October, as they mauled Boston College 59-7 in Week 9 to remain unbeaten heading into November play. The Tigers got a huge game from a defense that held the Eagles to 119 yards and a lone touchdown in the first half and closed out the game with a second-half shutout to pull away for the 52-point rout.
Trevor Lawrence put together his best game of an otherwise regressive sophomore season. The preseason Heisman favorite came out and threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns on 15-of-18 passing — in the first half. Lawrence finished with 275 yards and three scores as he completed more than 84 percent of his passes. Travis Etienne crushed it on the ground, rushing for 109 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries.
The Tigers probably will remain at No. 4 in the AP Top 25 this week, given how the teams ahead of them performed against tougher competition in Week 9. But Clemson heads into November ready to threaten for their fifth straight trip to the College Football Playoff as one of a fading number of undefeated programs.
