Scouting Report. idle in Week 10. player. Pick Analysis. won 20-0 at Northwestern. Iowa Hawkeyes. 19. 878

Iowa kept their longshot hopes of a Big Ten West title alive with a 20-0 shutout on the road of last year’s division champion Northwestern. The Hawkeyes held the Wildcats to just 202 total yards of offense, shutting down Aidan Smith and crew on their home turf at Ryan Field. It was a definitive victory that made up for last year’s 14-10 loss to Northwestern in Iowa City.

Nate Stanley had issues once again at quarterback, completing only 12 of his 26 passing attempts and finishing with 179 yards and one touchdown. The backfield ground out 123 rushing yards on 40 carries, as Tyler Goodson led the way with 58 yards on 11 carries and Mekhi Sargent punched in a touchdown on the ground.

Now 6-2 heading into November, the Hawkeyes are 3-2 in Big Ten play and still need help to get to Indianapolis. But the win in Evanston ensured the Hawkeyes a spot in the high teens in this week’s AP Top 25, as they prepare to take their second bye week of the season ahead of a late-season gauntlet of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Nebraska that will settle definitively who comes out atop the Big Ten West.
