1. Penn State should finish at minimum with 10 wins

Before the season started, many pundits and even Penn State fans were saying this is probably an eight or nine-win team. They just wouldn’t be able to overcome the loss of Trace McSorley at quarterback. The talent was there but it was untested. So far, the Lions are on track to prove those predictions wrong.

Just three weeks ago this team was 5-0 but the toughest stretch of at Iowa, Michigan at home and Michigan State on the road loomed large. Penn State is now on the other side of that gauntlet with their perfect record still intact.

The Nittany Lions have a challenge in their final four games. After a bye week, they will travel to face a surprising undefeated Minnesota team before returning home to face Indiana, who now stands at 6-2. If the Lions get to 10-0, it will be a showdown in Columbus with the Big Ten East title on the line most likely. Penn State concludes their season with Rutgers at home.

This stretch won’t be easy of course, but Penn State should easily dispose of Rutgers. Indiana looks like a better team than they have been in years but at home the Lions should still be big favorites. Penn State should also be a road favorite against Minnesota. At Ohio State will be the only game the Lions will be a decided underdog.

Penn State’s confidence has been building over the first two thirds of the season. Despite their youth, the locker room seems very tight and they are playing well together as a team. We’ll see where it takes them in November, but at minimum this is a 10 win team with a good possibility to be even more.
