2-5, 1-3. Last Week: 11. 10. 880. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

We have to apologize to Geoff Collins and the entire Yellow Jackets family. It was our understanding they were going to play horribly this season, and live at the bottom of the ACC power rankings. As we made restitution under our autographed caricature of Bobby Ross (signed by the artist, not Bobby Ross), we’ve seen the Jackets play better week by week.

That hard work, and “taking it one day at a time in the infancy of our program”, resulted in an upset of the Miami Hurricanes and an ACC win in year zero for Collins and the Rambin’ Wreck.

This isn’t three bold predictions, that’s another article strand on Saturday Blitz — which you should read — but as we sit and revel in Calvin Johnson’s one hand catches while a ‘Jacket we have one bold prediction about the Georgia Tech. They get one more upset this season. I don’t know who, but someone is going to think they can roll their helmets out on the field and they’re going to get got by Tech.

847. 5-2, 2-2. Last Week: 9. Virginia Tech Hokies. 9. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Hokies have won three games in a row; we’ll count the Rhode Island win. They’ve found some offense, but not much defense during this streak. At 5-2 the Hokies find themselves prime for bowl eligibility. However, it won’t be easy for Virginia Tech. They have Notre Dame this weekend and Wake Forest next. Georgia Tech is on the schedule, but don’t get got ‘Tech. They then end the season with Pitt and Virginia.  It looks like the Hokies are all in with quarterback Hendon Hooker over Ryan Willis which makes sense. Justin Fuente likes big mobile quarterbacks, similar to what he had in Paxton Lynch in Memphis.

4-4, 2-3. Duke Blue Devils. #8. 825. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Last week #6. player

We love David Cutcliffe here at headquarters, and we have a pretty good beat on the Blue Devils. Unfortunately for Duke, they’ve been bitten hard by the injury bug. Not only that, they aren’t very fast offensively.

Quarterback Quentin Harris has done everything he’s capable of doing, but Duke can’t push the ball down the field, or run effectively to scare anyone.

Somehow, they have to find two wins. This is personal. We are completely fascinated with basketball schools who want football money — uh, relevance. Maybe Cutcliffe needs to call MacGuyver in as a special analyst to make it work — oh wait, they have Syracuse and Miami remaining on their schedule so never mind.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Last Week: 8. 804. 4-4, 3-3. Florida State Seminoles. 7. player

This is definitely about Florida State, but if ya’ll don’t put some respect on Dave Clawson’s name. Everyone at headquarters is going crazy because people want Willie Taggart out at Florida State because they lost to Wake Forest — like Wake isn’t the second best team in the conference this year.

Florida State held Wake to season lows in points and their second-lowest total in yards. The offense wasn’t great because Kendall Briles kept drinking the Hornibrook kool-aid. Hope against hope he’s put that away and is receiving help for his issue. It seems as if they are riding with James Blackman — with guest appearances by Cam Akers — at quarterback. That’s not a bad proposition in our view.

They get Miami this weekend in a rivalry that has lost a lot of its luster because both teams are mediocre — well Florida State is mediocre, Miami is just bad — but a win in this game should give Taggart some equity with the Seminoles faithful, and one win closer to a bowl.
