SMU Football: 3 keys to victory vs. Memphis in Week 10
2. Silence the crowd
Going on the road is never easy for any college football team. This is even truer when you are putting an undefeated season on the line. The Mustangs not only have an undefeated season but one that is bringing a ton of promise to the once exiled football program. NY6 dreams are within reach and the Mustangs can feel it.
The old cliche of starting off hot and silencing the crowd will have to be a big priority for the Mustangs. The Memphis faithful will be rocking in their home stadium with the highest-ranked team of the season coming into town. The Tiger fans know exactly what is on the line for both SMU and their home team. Playing at 7:30 p.m. local time means the Tiger fans will be a huge factor and could impact the SMU offense.
SMU has been in this position before, beating TCU on the road early in their season. They are used to hostile environments and less than welcoming crowds that get offenses off schedule. Shane Buechele and the Mustangs are going to have to make sure they don’t let the crowd have much to cheer about early and take the crowd out of the game.
