1. Lean on Xavier Jones

There has been a ton of talk about the play of Shane Buechele this year for the SMU Mustangs. Rightfully so, the quarterback is at the forefront of the conversation as the Mustangs have made this run. What has not been talked about enough is the season that Xavier Jones is having.

Jones is putting up video game numbers as a running back. Rushing for over 880 yards and having 16 total touchdowns on the year, Jones is lighting up opposing defenses. Just last week Jones had 133 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 22 attempts. The offensive line has played well and Jones is reaping the benefits.

Memphis has done really well against the pass allowing just under 190 yards a game. That means Jones will have to try and exploit the weakness in the defensive front of the Tigers. Look for Jones to get a bunch of carries again for the Mustangs and be a big reason why they are able to escape on the road.
