Pac-12 Football Power Rankings, Week 11: Oregon making playoff push
By Kyle Grondin
The Beavers are in second place in the North. I feel like Paul Revere should be riding down the West Coast shouting this phrase, as this team is still playing good football.
It’s a shame they couldn’t beat the Cardinal earlier in the season, a one conference loss Oregon State playing Oregon in the Civil War for the North would’ve been peak Pac-12.
The Sun Devils have fallen back down to Earth after a tough loss to the Bruins now moves them to 2-3 in Pac-12 play. Arizona State at their best continues to look awesome, but losses against Colorado and UCLA shouldn’t happen to teams that want to win the conference.
Ol’ Chip Kelly was hustling us the entire time, and UCLA has found a nice little groove in their last three games. Joshua Kelley has been the difference maker, he averaged 155 yards in the last three games, and seven touchdowns total.
The Bruins need him to be a force, as Dorian Thompson Robinson isn’t the kind of quarterback that is going to single-handedly win ballgames. UCLA should make the next weekend against Utah interesting at least.
USC looked like they had a real opportunity to climb the ladder among the contenders in the Pac-12. But after losing to Washington and getting obliterated by Oregon, it was clear that the Trojans are just a tier below the top-level teams in the conference.
The Trojans have a lot of young talent going forward, starting with Kedon Slovis at quarterback. This team has talent, it just seems like they’re waiting for the end of Clay Helton’s tenure, and possibly the beginning of Urban Meyer or Mike Leach’s reign.
The Huskies battled the top two teams in the conference, going toe to toe with each of them and losing by a combined total of nine points. Jacob Eason is the perfect quarterback for this Huskies team, he’s as inconsistent as this team is at point, throwing the pick six that led to the loss against the Utes.
I do hope he comes back one more year, this Huskies team next season could be special next season.
