Stick with me here, this might sound like a reach, mainly because it is. SMU played their way to an undefeated 8-0 record and ruled over the Group of Five for multiple weeks. Last week SMU fell to Memphis in a game that was not all that close from the beginning. The defense struggled as the Mustangs gave up 54 points to the Tigers.

East Carolina has lost its last four games. The Pirates have started to turn a corner it looks like with their record only sitting at 3-6. At home last week, the Pirates took the Cincinnati Bearcats down to the wire and shocked many people. The Pirates fell on a last-minute field goal but put the Bearcats on the ropes for most of the game.

As 22-point underdogs, no one is expecting the Pirates to have another game as they had against the Bearcats. This could be a game that is a perfect let down game after an emotional loss to Memphis and overlooking a scuffling East Carolina team. There is very little chance the Pirates could pull this off, though college football is full of surprises.
