1. Give George Holani the rock

George Holani is quietly having one of the best breakout seasons for the Broncos. Looking at his statistics, his numbers may not be as gaudy as some are in the BIG 10 or BIG 12 in the running column. Nonetheless, Holani in just his first year on campus has been a welcome sight for the Broncos.

Starting running back Robert Mahone was inactive after the bye week and in came George Holani to take the bulk of the carries. Holani proceeded to rattle off four touchdowns against the Spartans last week on 20+ carries. We have been able to see Holani make good runs in his freshman campaign, but this truly felt like his coming out party last Saturday.

Even with Mahone healthy once again and active for Saturday’s game, expect to see a ton of Holani. He has been the spark for the Broncos offense all year and continues to get better each week. Byran Harsin has praised the freshman running back almost every week. It might be time to turn the page from Mahone full time and let Holani grow into the star running back that he could be. Wyoming could be Holani’s second straight game with over 100 rushing yards.
