1. Despite the loss, Wake Forest is having a good season

It would have been nice to have a one-loss Wake Forest squad play Clemson. The Tigers are the far superior team, but the ramifications of an upset would have been catastrophic for the playoff. Who doesn’t like a bit of chaos every now and then? Alas, it wasn’t to be.

The Hokies had the secret sauce to defeating the Demon Deacons. They watched what Florida State did to the Deacons a couple of weeks ago. The difference is Florida State couldn’t score touchdowns as the Hokies reached the end zone.

This has still been a great run for Wake Forest this season. They’ll finish second in the ACC Atlantic Division even if they lose to Clemson.

With Duke and Syracuse to end the season they should end their regular season with nine wins. Their bowl game will give Wake Forest an opportunity for a ten win season for the first time since 2006 when it won the ACC title. There’s a good chance they get a good bowl, and finish the season with 10 wins.

What Wake Forest has to do is make it worth Dave Clawson’s wild to stay on Tobacco Road because his phone will ring often this offseason.
