Utah got exactly what they needed out of Week 10. The Utes took down Washington in Seattle, then got the added bonus of an Oregon win over USC. As Clay Helton’s squad took their second loss in conference play, Utah now controls their own destiny inn the Pac-12 despite their head-to-head loss against the Trojans. That earned them a top-10 spot in the College Football Playoff selection committee Top 25.
There they will stay this week despite taking a bye. Utah boasts one of the top defenses in the country, holding opponents to only 12 points and 246 yards per game. They boast one of the country’s most efficient passers in Tyler Huntley, and Zack Moss provides a major threat out of the backfield.
UCLA is no easy out in Week 12, but the Utes need only to win out against the Bruins, at Arizona in Week 13, and at home against Colorado in the regular-season finale on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to lock themselves into the Pac-12 championship game. A spot in the playoff could be in play if they arrive in Santa Clara with an 11-1 record.
