Texas restored some pride in Austin on Saturday afternoon, toppling No. 16 Kansas State 27-24 to improve to 6-3 and restore position in the Big 12 race behind Baylor and Oklahoma. With the win they will likely earn a spot in the College Football Playoff rankings this week. The Longhorns were especially strong against the run, holding the Wildcats to only 51 rushing yards as they outgained their visitors by nearly 175 yards.

Sam Ehlinger looked good in victory, throwing for 263 yards with a touchdown and an interception on 22-of-29 passing. Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay each finished with 110 receiving yards as Ehlinger’s favorite targets in the passing game. The quarterback added 40 rushing yards to bolster the 139-yard, two-touchdown game posted by Keaontay Ingram on the ground at home.

Texas squares off against Iowa State in Week 12, hoping to keep pace and waiting to see if either the Bears or Sooners stumble. The Longhorns then faces Baylor in Waco with a chance to play spoiler before closing out the regular season at home against Texas Tech. While a Big 12 title game berth is a longshot, Texas could still be an attractive 9-3 team to play in the Sugar Bowl if the conference champion makes the College Football Playoff.
