2. Chris Klieman was a home run hire for the Wildcats

Not many people can take over for a coaching legend and get the team to buy in, let alone have them perform right away. But Chris Klieman simply took the torch from Bill Snyder and has been running with it. He’s notched wins against Mississippi State in the SEC and Oklahoma — the pride of the Big 12.

And even though the Wildcats lost to the ‘Eers, Klieman will have the Wildcats competing in the Big 12 for a long time. I don’t want to place College Football Playoff hopes on Klieman, but don’t be surprised if he’s got this team contending year-in and year-out.

The Wildcats’ offense ranks in the top 50 in points per game, and their defense is even more impressive, surrendering just 21.1 points per game. His quarterback, Skylar Thompson, is only a junior, and he doesn’t turn the ball over hardly at all. With an experienced guy like that, the Wildcats have a solid one-two punch with Klieman at head coach and Thompson as his signal-caller.

Expect this team to do great things in not only the future, but down the stretch to close out 2019.
