College Football Playoff Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Virginia didn’t play in Week 12, but they were another beneficiary of Big 12 chaos to bump up into the College Football Playoff rankings heading into Week 13. The Cavaliers are a half-game ahead in the ACC Coastal, with only their Commonwealth Cup battle against Virginia Tech left on their conference schedule in 2019.
They can’t get caught looking ahead to that game against their intrastate rival, however, with a visit from Liberty still looming on the schedule in Week 13. The Flames are 6-4, though they faltered in their previous two Power Five statement opportunities against Syracuse and Rutgers. Bryce Perkins should have a fun day carving up the FBS neophyte.
If Virginia wins out against the Flames and Hokies, they will lock down a spot in the ACC championship game. If they lose in the Commonwealth Cup at home, though, it will open the door for the winner of the Week 13 showdown between Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh to swoop in and play Clemson for the conference crown.
