won 41-31 vs. Kansas. 22. 837. Scouting Report. Iowa State Cyclones. player. Pick Analysis. 11/30 at Kansas State

Iowa State entered the College Football Playoff Top 25 last week as the highest-ranked team in the country with four losses. Through their first 10 games, those four losses came by a combined 11 points. A few twists and turns and the Cyclones could easily have entered the last fortnight of the season unbeaten or at least still in the Big 12 race. Instead they had to settle for a 41-31 beatdown of Kansas at home to keep themselves in the rankings another week.

Brock Purdy had a strong game in victory, going 29-of-42 for 372 passing yards and four  touchdowns through the air. The quarterback added a rushing touchdown, while the team finished with 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Breece Hall had most of those yards, finishing with 97 yards and a score on 28 carries.

With no chance to play for the conference title, there is a definite ceiling for the Cyclones at this point of the year. A win at Kansas State will probably consolidate top-20 position for Matt Campbell’s team, and while a New Year’s Six berth is out of reach Iowa State can still celebrate the fact that they are bowl-bound for the third straight season.
