College Football Playoff Rankings 2019: Projected Top 25, Week 14 – Utah sneaks in
By Zach Bigalke
Boise State still has just over a half to play, but at this point they have Utah State on the ropes as they eliminate the last threat to steal away the MWC Mountain title in 2019. The Utes allowed the Broncos to run up a big first-quarter lead before giving up another touchdown early in the second frame. Though the shutout bid was killed early for Boise State, they could actually vault ahead of Cincinnati in the College Football Playoff Top 25 if they keep winning big against the Aggies.
George Holani started the game with 120 rushing yards on his first 10 carries, scoring two touchdowns along the way. With third-string quarterback Jaylon Henderson at the helm, the Broncos nevertheless continued to move the football and benefit from a defense that gave them plenty of possessions to work with over the course of the first 20 minutes or so.
Assuming nothing crazy happens, look for Boise State to jump into the high teens as they continue to charge after the American Athletic Conference leaders and plot their moves to get into the College Football Playoff selection committee’s good graces for a shot at the Cotton Bowl bid.
