Speaking of schools having great seasons, the Appalachian State Mountaineers just keep winning. Whether it’s Scott Satterfield or Eli Drinkwitz, the Mountaineers just win.

They ended their run in FCS with a championship, and continued their winning ways whey they made the jump to FBS. This season is no different. The Mountaineers are headed toward yet another Sun Belt title game, and another possible conference crown. The question facing the Mountaineers is whether they can get to the New Year’s Six.

Being in the Sun Belt, and losing a conference game does not help the Mountaineers at all. However, they do have two Power Five wins on their résumé. Their win against North Carolina will look even better if the Tar Heels get to a bowl game. They need some help, and this is college football, so we’ll see.

The Broncos are in a similar position as the Mountaineers; they need help to make it to the New Year’s Six. Boise State needs Memphis and Cincinnati to split their last two games and end up with two losses. The Broncos do have a Power Five win against Florida State that is looking better as the Seminoles march toward a bowl game.

However, the Broncos have a not so good loss against BYU. That loss might give the Mountaineers what they need to jump the Broncos. It doesn’t help that the Broncos are going to play a three or four loss team in their conference championship game.
