College Football 2019: 3 Group of Five teams on upset alert in Week 14
The once top-ranked SMU Mustangs are a far cry from the top of the Group of Five where they once were. Starting off the season an impressive 8-0 and rolling on offense through just about everyone. The Mustangs have had the luxury of having Shane Buechele who transferred from Texas and has made an immediate impact for the Mustangs.
Now the Mustangs have dropped the last two out of three and find themselves unranked in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Not all is lost for SMU though, they still have Tulane at home and then a bowl game upcoming. With two chances to get over the ten-win mark, we will see if the Mustangs come out and play with purpose.
The issue with SMU comes through motivation. SMU is now out of the race for the AAC championship and has already punched a ticket to a bowl game which won’t change with a win over Tulane.
The Green Wave come into the game at 6-5 with a team loaded with seniors. Tulane has dropped the last two in close games but is in prime position to end their season on a high note. Watch for senior quarterback Justin McMillan to tear up the SMU defense on the ground and shock the Mustangs.
