3. Mississippi State controlled the line of scrimmage

This was to be expected with two of the better runners in the SEC in this game. You knew both teams were going to keep it on the ground. The Rebels logged 46 runs in this one, and the Bulldogs had 43 runs. It was the Bulldogs who dominated the ground game in this one.

Mississippi State ran for 212 yards and three touchdowns on Thursday night and 132 of those yards were by stud running back Kylin Hill. The Bulldog defense did an outstanding job against the Rebels’ run game.

Ole Miss running back Jerrion Early had 82 yards and 5.5 yards per carry, but Mississippi State’s mission was to contain star dual-threat quarterback true freshman John Rhys Plumlee. It was mission accomplished for the Bulldogs as Plumlee had only 31 yards on the ground on 18 carries and 121 yards passing.

Mississippi State ruled the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense.
