1. Brady White provides critical balance to the Memphis offense

It is hardly a surprise at this point of the season, but Brady White is a spectacular quarterback. Entering Friday’s contest against the Bearcats, White ranked seventh in the entire FBS in passing efficiency and sixth in the country in passing touchdowns. He continued to play like one of the best passers in the country against Cincinnati.

White isn’t the biggest statistical compiler in the country by any means, as he came into the game averaging just under 280 passing yards per game. Against Cincinnati, he finished with only 233 yards on 15-of-26 passing. But he also finished with positive yardage on the ground, and threw for two touchdowns against one interception.

Six different receivers caught passes from White, led by Damonte Coxie’s six receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown. Kedarian Jones hauled in the other touchdown pass, a nine-yard scoring strike that went with a 44-yard play that accounted for his two catches on the evening.

It was the kind of night that gives Memphis fans plenty of reason to dream big when they square off against Cincinnati in the rematch. White showed that he doesn’t have to put up the biggest stats to beat the Bearcats, but he could nevertheless post an even bigger day with the Tigers trying to finally nab the American Athletic Conference title on their third consecutive try.
