Oklahoma Football: 3 takeaways from 2019 Bedlam win over Oklahoma State
2. Oklahoma State couldn’t overcome key injuries
Losing your starting quarterback and star receiver will set any offense back and Oklahoma State’s case is no different.
Tylan Wallace had serious aspirations for winning the Biletnikoff Award for most outstanding receiver in the nation. Spencer Sanders also had proved to be a solid dual-threat quarterback in his freshman season but both of these key players were unavailable for Bedlam.
Oklahoma State’s offense didn’t look too bad on Saturday night, but the explosiveness was just not there. Chuba Hubbard had a solid game but didn’t break out any big-time runs. Dru Brown played mistake-free football until a garbage time interception and Braydon Johnson made two big plays, this just wasn’t enough to keep up with the high-powered Oklahoma offense.
When you go into a game against a team that averages 45 points per game, you need to be able to go shot for shot and Oklahoma State was unable to answer the count.
